Fr. EJ Ikaika Resinto was born and raised in Puhi on the island of Kauaʻi. He’s a proud graduate of Kauai High School (Class of 2005). Prior to entering the Seminary in 2008, he served in various ministries at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihue. He earned his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Philosophy from Mount Angel Seminary in St. Benedict, Oregon, and later received his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and Bachelor’s in Sacred Theology (S.T.B.) from St. Patrick Seminary and University in Menlo Park, California.
Fr. EJ was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Honolulu on July 9, 2016. He first served at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in ʻEwa Beach, Oʻahu, before being appointed Pastor of Sacred Heart Church and Maryknoll School in Honolulu, Oahu. On July 1, 2025, he became Pastor of St. Catherine Parish in Kapaʻa and its mission churches, St. Sylvester in Kīlauea and St. William in Hanalei.
Fr. EJ is ever grateful to be able to come home to give back to the Kauai community through his ministry. He is looking forward to building a strong, welcoming community rooted in prayer, Scripture, and the sacraments. Fr. EJ is especially passionate about helping others discover their unique call to serve and live out the mission of the Church in everyday life.
In his free time, he enjoys cooking, baking, going on walks, and spending time with family and friends.
