Parish Pastoral Plan

A parish pastoral plan assesses the current spiritual needs of a parish, establishes goals to address those needs, and defines objectives and actions that will lead the parish to achieve those goals.

After assessing the state of St. Catherine’s parish in his first two months here, Father Nicholas Apetorgbor identified two primary areas that needed to be addressed in the parish: faith formation and stewardship.  In October of 2021, Father asked the pastoral council to quickly develop a pastoral plan focused on these areas, with objectives that could be achieved in a two-year timeframe.

The council formed a planning committee that sought input from people in key committees and ministries.  From this input they identified some common themes to address.  A plan was drafted and approved by the council and Fr. Nick in January of 2022.

The pastoral plan identifies three goals:

  1. Provide adult faith formation opportunities
  2. Grow and deepen stewardship
  3. Improve parish communication

The first two goals naturally arise from Fr. Nick’s commission to focus on faith formation and stewardship.  As the committee worked on the plan, however, it became clear that communication problems created an impediment to the other goals and were significant enough to warrant adding a third goal.

The complete plan is available here.
